Linear scales consist of “scales” used as a ruler and a “detector” which obtains positional information from the scales.
Linear encoder signal feedback and microstep drive minimize lead errors inherent in feed screw mechanisms.The use of a glass scale with a small coefficient of linear expansion allows for a highly reliable positioning system that is stable to fluctuations in the ambient environment.
It is ideal for applications requiring accurate positioning in the submicron range and for long-duration drive applications where repeatability is affected by temperature drift.
